Diatomite, Diatomaceous Earth or DE is the skeletal remains of single celled plants called diatoms, hence the name diatomite. These microscopic algae have the capability of extracting silica from water to produce their skeletal structure. When diatoms die their skeletal remains sink to the bottom of lakes and oceans and form a diatomite deposit. Natural diatomite is mined from deposits, that were formed millions of years ago, that were once lake and ocean bottoms. Silica (sand) is the most abundant compound on the earths crust. Natural diatomite is comprised of 85% silica the balance being other inert oxides.
Natural diatomite is odorless and non toxic. It is a soft powdery mineral with the consistency of powdered chalk or flour, thus the name fossil flower. For over 100 years there have been numerous uses of diatomite. The simplest use that we have found is as natural abrasive cleanser for your stainless steel kitchen sink. Most kitchen sink cleansers on the market contain bleach and various chemicals, in addition to abrasive minerals that put an unnecessary burden on the environment. Natural diatomite is an off white, tan coloured powder that can clean your stainless steel kitchen sink and not subject you or the environment to the effects of bleach and chemicals. It is as natural as the sand on the beach

Diatom mud is nanoporous materials, porosity up to 90% more than the charcoal 5000-6000 times, with a strong  physical adsorption and ion exchange properties, it can suck the air of free formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia and  other harmful substances.Diatom mud is not only environmental and healthy, but also very practical, which is an  alternative to wallpaper and paint a new generation of interior decoration  materials.

"Diatom oozes, which contain more than 30% diatom frustules, are found beneath the Antarctic divergence, off the Aleutian island arc in the far North Pacific, and beneath areas of intensive meridional upwelling such as the eastern tropical Pacific."
